50/365: Thanksgiving Prep

Personal, Project 365

Last year, I made Thanksgiving dinner and we invited friends over.  This year, I was thankful for that practice run – our family came to town!  One of my favorite things to cook for Thanksgiving is the turkey brine.  I make it on Wednesday morning, right at the start of my break from work.  It makes a wonderful aroma, and it definitely makes it feel like the holidays.

When it came to crunch time of roasting vegetables, warming casseroles, cutting the turkey, and making the gravy, my mom and mother-in-law came in to help.  Thanks for traveling to Oklahoma, family!  We loved having you!

48/365: Pepperoni

Project 365

When I was a kid, I was the only one of my friends who liked pepperoni.  At birthday parties, the pepperoni pizza went slow, while the cheese pizza was gone before everyone got their first helping.  So what happened?  Kids picked the pepperoni off their slice – and I ate a whole pizza worth of pepperoni.

Fast forward twenty years, and I still love pepperoni.  My husband makes fun of me every time we make pizza because I methodically place the pepperoni to cover the whole pizza in a specific pattern.  Also, I read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up this summer, and I’ve been talking about organizing and feng shui ever since.  So, unknown, you apparently know me well.
